Monica Bauer (playwright) has had plays produced Off-Broadway, Off-Off-Broadway, regionally in Denver, Boston, Providence, Omaha, Detroit, Los Angeles, The Kennedy Center, and internationally at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the Brighton (England) Fringe Festival. Education includes a B.A. from Brown, M. Div. from Yale, M.A., and Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska. Monica was the 2005 Teaching Fellow in the Graduate Playwriting Program at Boston University, where she received an MA in playwriting. Her play for one actor, MADE FOR EAACH OTHER, has been at various productions since 2010. In September of 2014, CHOSEN CHILD was given two staged readings in New York as part of the Indie Theater Now / Stage Left Studio Reading Series, directed by Austin Pendleton. CHOSEN CHILD was also part of the 2014-2015 season at Boston Playwrights' Theatre, where it was nominated for an IRNE Award for Best New Play. In 2017, it was chosen as one of three winners of the Bechtel Test Fest at The Bridge Initiative for Women in Theater. VIVIAN'S MUSIC, 1969 was a hit at both the 2018 Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Off-Broadway at 59E59 Theaters. Monica has two comedic novels available for purchase n Amazon. JOHN D. FITZGIBBON (director) directed MADE FOR EACH OTHER for the One Man Talking Festival, and for the Planet Connections Theater Festivity NYC (nominated, Best Solo Show). At the Edinburgh Festival, it garnered rave reviews both in 2012 and 2013. He directed the workshop production of Monica Bauer’s TWO MEN WALKED INTO A BAR for the Dream Up Festival last summer at Theatre For The New City. He directed Robin Rice Lichtig’s SAVE THE TURKEY and LIFE 101 for N J Rep’s Theater Brut Festival and her BRONCO BUSTER for the Sam French Festival. As an actor, he received a Best of Boston Award for MOON FOR THE MISBEGOTTEN (Jim Tyrone); a Carbonell Nomination for SIGHT UNSEEN (Nick); an OBIE nomination for CAT AND THE MOON (lame beggar). Most recently he played “Saint Peter” in THE TRIAL OF MARTIN LUTHER on a national tour and at the Pearl Theatre, NYC. As a pianist/composer he has created theatre scores for Ron Travel's CANTICLE OF THE NIGHTINGALE, Maria Irene Fornes' AURORA, and Jackie Curtis' AMERIKA CLEOPATRA.
